Report from Marseille and Prayer for Easter

Dear Praying Friends,

We had a wonderful trip to Marseille last weekend. I must say it is the first time I get to preach the Gospel in a city that is 2,600 years old! (That’s right: Marseille was founded by the Greeks 600 years before Christ.)

About 30 unbelievers were present Friday night in Istres (near Marseille), and although I don’t know exactly how many attended the concert Saturday night in Marseille, I was told there were many people who did not know the Lord. Both nights our first year students presented the Good News through music and drama, and I preached a short evangelistic message at the end.

Both events were organized by faithful local churches with which our school has a strong partnership. The pastor in Istres was trained at the GBI (Geneva Bible Institute), and the pastor in Marseille teaches here regularly. How encouraging it was to see many brothers and sisters invite their unbelieving friends to church!

We also had an opportunity to visit the great city of Marseille. Can you believe there are only 30 evangelical churches in this city in which 900,000 people live? And some of those churches only have 20 or 30 members! Please pray for the salvation of many in Marseille -- the second largest city of France after Paris.

The Geneva Bible Institute, where I serve, will welcome 1000 young people from France and Switzerland over Easter weekend for a special conference. Alex and Brett Harris will be speaking (they are twins, Joshua Harris’ younger brothers), among others. Pray that many teenagers would choose to follow the risen Christ whole-heartedly for the rest of their lives.

Thank you for your prayers!
