Although protests have died down in Muslim Albania, in much of the Muslim world, unrest continues. Whatever the reasons for such protests, whether
economic conditions, political dissatisfaction, lack of freedoms, please pray!
Pray that this unprecedented public outpouring of discontent would turn the eyes of Muslims to their deepest need… alienation from the one, true, supremely loving God.
Pray that the rising discontent would cause closed countries to open to
the gospel. Pray that this would result in many opportunities to bring the good news of him who made known the one, true, loving God… Jesus Christ!
Pray that the yearning for peace and rest would bring Muslims to the “Mighty God,… Prince of Peace” (Is.9:6)

REST OF THE MUSLIM WORLD—CALL TO ACT!
The present relative calm in Muslim Albania, affords us an opportunity to act… to go and train those who can best bring “rest” to Albania and beyond. This summer (late August) I, David, head back to Albania to provide Biblical and Theological training from the Book of Romans. This training will help our Albanian
full-time laborers communicate clearly the gospel of peace to Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
The present unrest in the Muslim world, affords us an opportunity to bring Muslim background believers (MBBs) from all over the Muslim world to stable, open Albania for a training project. This project would provide two weeks of theological and ministry training that could NOT be provided in their “closed”
countries. Understandably, many of the details of this project must remain unpublished so as not hinder
MBB participation.
Praise for Action! Beni, a good friend of ours, the first Albanian with whom I (David) ever shared the
gospel back in 1992, is now serving with us here in Hungary as a long—term missionary. He just returned from a Muslim country where he was able to help train Muslim background believers to help accelerate the capacity of their ministries to bring the good news of Jesus to many, many, discontented Muslims. Beni described the training as “My most significant ministry event in the last three years!” Praise the Lord!
UP CLOSE & PERSONAL: THE FLOODS OF LIFE BRING GROWTH AND MATURITY (JAMES 1)
Recently, Yulia, Tosha, Evan and I went for a family bike ride along the Danube river. We biked in and out of some BIG trees that were rather close to the river’s edge. I wondered why these particular trees were SOOO Big (see picture). Later, we came to another tree where someone had marked how high the river had reached during the last three floods; the level I’m pointing to was just last spring! I soon realized all these BIG trees endured major floods. Not only did they endure, but they grew bigger and stronger because of them!
What a vivid picture of what James also concludes about trials when he writes, “that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:4) Knowing intellectually that God uses the floods of life, big and small, to bring growth and maturity is one thing. Believing God and His promises in the midst of a flood as the fast flowing waters erode away the soil from my roots, this is quite another thing! Please pray that Yulia and I would take God at His word and believe when flood waters rise!
