Tuesday is the day that the projects began. We broke into several small teams to help in different areas on campus.
Karla and Amy spent the day in the library, sorting through donated books and assigning call numbers for the catalog. Ben, the librarian at Scott, was excited to include Amy and Karla in his work and was also excited to receive some mending tape and printable labels for use in the Scott library.
Dan, Brian, Chip, and Scott worked on a roofing job. They were struck by how resourceful the Kenyans are. Almost all of the supplies—nails, boards, tiles—are being reused. They enjoyed working with the Kenyans on the project and were grateful that God provided safety and energy in their work.
Stephanie and Christi helped with marketing and PR for the university. They met with Terry, who works in the administrative office, to discuss the vision and marketing plan for Scott's future. As part of the project, they had the opportunity to talk with students about their experiences at Scott and what makes Scott unique. They were impacted by the attitudes of the Kenyan people, who do their work with joy and gratitude for God's provision.
The medical team (Gale, Renee, and Robin) began researching for healthcare seminars they will present on Saturday. They spent many hours learning more about healthcare topics that are relevant to the area: HIV/AIDS, drug and alcohol abuse, and healthy living (nutrition, etc.), They will also speak a bit about hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, and obesity. Pray for them, that they will have wisdom in how to better understand the culture, and that God will use these talks in the lives of the people who attend.
We talked briefly Tuesday night with Buddy, Jim, and Phil, who spent the day preparing to mix and pour a cement floor in Paul Mbandi's hometown of Masaw'a. On Wednesday, Chip, Gale, Scott, and Renee were able to visit Masaw'a and see the work the men are doing there—pouring the cement floor at the church.

Although we've only been here for 4 days, we've already seen and learned much. We have especially enjoyed getting to know the students and staff and seeing their passion for serving the Lord. We are looking forward to getting to know them even better and getting even more involved!
Please keep us in your prayers.
