The Burning Bush

A big snake...a scorpion (also big)...no electricity or running water...and a personal chef?!? Phil, Jim, and Buddy survived life in the bush for three days. They stayed the last few nights at Paul Mbandi's hometown, staying at his farm home, where they helped lay concrete. Kenya-crete is far different than Ken-crete that we are used to in Kenosha. All of the components come separate, and must be mixed by hand. It was hard work, but they had good men to work with, who embraced them as part of the Masaw'a community.

And, yes, Paul sent a personal chef with them...a young man named Sospeter, who served as head cook at Scott for four years, before now moving on to be a culinary arts teacher at the local college and has a private catering business. His cooking is incredible (there is a rumor that they will be trying to sneak him back to the States), but more than that, his burning passion for the Lord was a pleasure to be around. He would sing hymns (in Swahili) to Yesu while he prepared the food, and his prayers reflected such earnest, genuine love and appreciation for God. He will be going back to the bush with them next week...praise God.

They just arrived back and are bursting at the seams to share all of their stories, so we're going to have a team meeting now...thank you for your continued prayers. Tomorrow is an off day for touring, then Saturday will be seminars and preaching on Sunday. Please be praying for these teams as they prepare to go off in different directions for the weekend.
