Top 3 Ways to Serve Our Guests

Why do we make such a big deal about serving our guests every year? Haven’t you heard enough of this? We have guests every week, why do we especially want to pay attention to guests on Guest Sunday.

Why guest Sunday? It’s a big deal because practically we have significantly more guests than any other week. Also, we have encourage our regular attendees to bring their guests, so we want to make sure their guests feel welcomed. For some people, it’s a big deal to invite people to church.

The Gospel and the Glory of God

Theologically, this is related to our mission as a church. It is related to our reason for existing. We exist to glorify God through the transformation of lives by the power of the gospel. On Guest Sundays, we have over 100 guests who wouldn’t normally be in church. This may be the only time they ever hear the gospel. This may be God’s predestined timing for their conversion. So, let me identify the top 3 ways we can serve our guests tomorrow.

Parking – First, let’s open-up parking spaces for our guests. Most guests will arrive close to 10:00, if not after 10:00. So, let’s make sure there are sufficient spaces for our guests. With the snow, parking spaces are at a premium because we actually lose spaces with the snow piling-up. Besides, I have heard how new relationships are being formed on the shuttle ride!

Seating – Second, let’s open up seats that are easy to access for our guests. I know people have their assigned seats and like the aisle seats, but again, we don’t want our guests to have to climb over people or have to sit in the very first row. Let’s make it easy for them so they want to come back. Again, they will be arriving at 10:00 or later.

Greeting – Third, greet the guests who are sitting near you. If after the service you see someone walking around with a Poinsettia, they are a guest. Go up to them, introduce yourself, and ask them how they heard about CrossWay, if they liked the service, and invite them to return next week. Also, let them know that you are glad they came today and you hope they come again.

Pray for Tomorrow

Please pray with me tonight and tomorrow morning, that many who received invitations for tomorrow would come, they would be warmly welcomed, they would come back next week, and the week after, and the week after, and in God’s perfect timing they would repent of their rebellion and believe in Jesus Christ to the glory of God.
