On Saturday we worked a half-day and played a half-day. We took our normal trek from the hotel to the work site at 7:30 a.m. and worked until 12:00 p.m. The electrical team started digging trenches in the dirt floor to lay conduit. The cement floor will eventually be poured over it. They then began to pull wires to the electrical boxes. The cement team tied more rebar and laid more brick on the second floor. We are pretty high up on the scaffolding now which is making it quite challenging. We also framed in two of the windows on the second floor.
At 12:00 we drove out to the Pastors’ Training Course (PTC) Farm. It is set in a rural farming area set in the valley of some mountains with a meandering river running through it. From the main road
we traveled across a very rocky dirt road for 6 kilometers. The Farm has a very basic farm house with no electricity. We had a great afternoon relaxing, eating, and sitting by the river. They very generously killed and cooked two goats for us over an open fire. This was a big hit for most of us, especially since it was served with much of the natural produce from the farm.
The Farm is used as a retreat, a source of income for bivocational pastors, and as an investment in the next generation of pastors. They produce crops on the farm as a source of income: corn, squash, beans, tomatoes, peanuts, and eggplant. They also had goats, chickens, and 3 caribou. What was most impressive is the coconut and mango trees that they planted with a view to the future; a source of income for the next generation of pastors.
Tomorrow we will be attending church in three different locations. Tim Morrow will be preaching at Jesus The River of Life, Keith Riley at Gates of Praise, and David Vecchitto at God Cares.
Please continue to pray …
1. …for the men who are preaching and the effective communication of God’s word. Pray especially that the Holy Spirit would give understanding to those who hear.
2. …for sleep and continued health and safety for the entire team that is working together.

3. …for fellowship as a team as we hear one-another’s testimonies, work together, and speak words that express God’s lavish grace.
4. …for our families back home, their safety and health, joy and gratefulness in their calling, vision for how they are serving the gospel in the Philippines, and fellowship with one-another.
