A Day of Sweet Worship and Rich Fellowship

Although we all missed worshipping together with our church family at CrossWay, it was a sweet morning to be worshipping with our Filipino brothers and sisters in Christ. It gave us a small glimpse of what it would like to gather with the church from all tongues, tribes, and nations and sing praises to the Lamb seated on the throne. We were spread out among three churches: God Cares, Gates of Praise, and Jesus The River of Life. There were 30-50 people in these churches that gathered in small one-room buildings. The service was about 2 hours with a time of singing, preaching, and celebrating the Lord’s supper with them. It was a special time of fellowship for all of us.

After church we all gathered at Pastor Armand’s church for lunch and a brief time of fellowship. They presented a feast consisting of rice, 3-4 meat dishes, salad, fresh watermelon, pineapple, mango, and coconut milk. It was a joy to meet Pastor Armand’s family. The Filipino’s are very warm, very generous, very joyful, and very hospitable.

After Pastor Armand’s we went shopping at a mall for some souvenirs. It reminded us very much of an American shopping mall with lots of stores and many western products.

In the evening we all went over Pastor Paul’s house for some more food and fellowship. It was great to be in Paul’s home and see his children. Again we were treated to a feast. The highlight of the evening was to hear testimonies from Paul, and then Keith and Shelby Riley. We had an extended time of on-going fellowship after the testimonies.

Tomorrow we are back at the construction site and in the afternoon the pastors begin to arrive for the Pastor’s conference which begins tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Please pray …

1. …for continued safety on the job site and health for the team.

2. …for continued wisdom and foresight for those who are managing the construction project.

3. …for continued joyful and effective service for the construction team.

4. …for our preparations for the pastor’s conference, the safe arrival of the participants, and a good start tonight.

5. …for fellowship as a team as we hear one-another’s testimonies, work together, and speak words that express God’s lavish grace.

6. …for our families back home, their safety and health, joy and gratefulness in their calling, vision for how they are serving the gospel in the Philippines, and fellowship with one-another.
