You can fully give yourself to something when you know that what you are giving yourself to i
s going to be used for great purposes. The team is fully giving themselves to the construction of this facility because it is going to be used for the great purposes of the gospel. Every brick laid is a brick for the progress of the gospel. Every wire pulled is a wire pulled for the progress of the gospel. Every bucket of cement carried is a bucket of cement for the gospel. We often imagine the facility that we are building filled with pastors who are leading churches and preaching the gospel. We often imagine the worship, and teaching, and fellowship that is going to take place in that facility. We often wonder how God is going to equip His shepherds and strengthen His church and further His Kingdom in that facility. There is no greater purpose to give yourself to than the great purpose of the gospel.
Today was another hard day of joyful and effective labor. On the electrical side the electrica
l box was completed, temporary outlets were run to the second floor, and electrical outlets were chiseled out of the cement block. On the cement side, the first floor cement block was completed, the second floor windows were framed with block, and we began pouring the columns. The team was feeling the accumulation of the heat, jet lag, and hard work over these past three days. We had our first injury today, thankfully it was only an elbow scraped up pretty badly. It was quickly cleaned and protected.
At the end of the day a few of the CrossWay men went across the street to play basketball with some local Filipinos. It was a great time of laughter, fun, and building relationally with t
he community. One of our team members suggested replacing their broken backboard and bent-up rim. This will be something that we pursue next week in order to build into the local community.
Tonight we went out to dinner at a Filipino restaurant. Paul described it as “exotic.” We had an assortment of fried frogs legs, shrimp, and squid as appetizers. Some of the entrees included fried chicken, pork ribs, ox tail, fried duck, sweet and sour duck, crab, and stewed fish. And those weren’t the “exotic” items on the menu. It was a fun night of fellowship and laughter together.
Please continue to pray …

1. …for sleep and continued health and safety for the entire team that is working together.
2. …for leadership for those who are managing the construction, wisdom in knowing how to build safely and soundly, and for efficient use of the labor on hand and the financial budget.
3. …for fellowship as a team as we hear one-another’s testimonies, work together, and speak words that express God’s lavish grace.
4. …for fellowship with our Filipino brothers and sisters in Christ. Pray especially for increased
times of worship, prayer, and biblical encouragement for one-another.
5. …for our families back home, their safety and health, joy and gratefulness in their calling, vision for how they are serving the gospel in the Philippines, and fellowship with one-another.
6. …for our impact in the community, the children who attend the school, and their families. Pray that our presence would build bridges for the gospel.
