Brazil 09 - Day 1

We thank God for CrossWay Community Church, the church in Brazil, and the power of God who watched over us and went ahead of us. God’s active and faithful presence has surrounded us and gone before us.

Evidences of God’s Grace

Let us give glory to God for His gracious activity in Brazil thus far…

CrossWay Community Church gracious contributed over $9,000 for ministry expenses in Brazil and to care for the pastors and churches in Brazil.

CrossWay Community Church graciously contributed food, kitchen and household supplies, and sowing machines for the poorer families in the churches.

American Airlines lifted a box embargo to allow us to transport 21 boxes with the gifts collected from CrossWay and ministry supplies.

The team packed their personal belongings so that we were able to check all of the 21 boxes as part of our luggage allowance and not pay any additional freight charges.

The travel from O’Hare, to Miami International, to Belo Horizonte was seamless and timely.

Nelson Salviano arranged for us to travel by bus instead of plane from Belo Horizonte to Governador Valadares saving us several thousand dollars that will now go to the pastors and churches.

We had a wonderful first night of worshipping, and praying, preaching, and fellowshipping together with brothers and sisters in Pastor Geraldo’s church.

Through all of this the team has worked together, they have been flexible with an ever changing schedule, they are filled with joy.

God has sustained the team with health and strength in what has felt like a sprint since leaving Chicago.

Thank You CrossWay

We thank you CrossWay for sending a team to Brazil, thank you for your vision for serving the pastors and churches in Brazil, thank you for your desire to see the church strengthened and unbelievers reached. You have already been a blessing to the church in Brazil to the glory of God.

Please Pray

Please pray for us in the following way for the next 24 hours.

Pray for rest, health, and wisdom as we have had little sleep since arriving in Brazil. The pastors have packed our schedule, they fellowship in the night, and start early in the morning.

Pray for the effective equipping of pastors with the first pastor training session on Monday morning for around 60 pastors.

Pray for effective care for the pastors’ wives as the ladies share testimonies, pray for one another, and enjoy a time of fellowship.

Pray for a small team of men who are doing some repairs at Pastor Gladstone’s church. Pray for wisdom, strength, and joy in the midst of laboring.

Pray for the ladies as they host an evangelistic event for ladies in the community at Pastor Gladstone’s church. Pray for the effective communication of the gospel and the conversion of unbelievers.

Pray for all the Brazilians who are serving our team by driving, translating, and hosting all of the events.

Pray for our continued fellowship with the Brazilian brothers and sisters in Christ. That God would use our time together to strengthen the Brazilian church and CrossWay Community Church.

Pray for our preparation for ministry on Tuesday. We will be visiting needy families in their homes, giving gifts to them, and praying for them. On Tuesday night the team will be visiting and preaching in four different churches.
