Pray for Outreach in France this Weekend

Dominique and Laura Angers and their family will be visiting CrossWay from July 9-21, 2011. They live in France, and Dominique trains pastors at the Geneva Bible Institute in Geneva, Switzerland. This week I received this Email from Dominique asking for prayer.

The past month has provided rich opportunities for both hearing and proclaiming the Word. I had the privilege of speaking three times from Ephesians at the national gathering of the Groupes Bibliques Universitaires in Lyon (the French branch of IFES, the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students).

It was encouraging to see the students’ hunger for the Word and to hear about their zeal for evangelism. Many observers in France feel that God is raising-up a new generation that is willing to pay the price for the Gospel and that truly wants to know God more and make him known. Praise God!

As a school we were immensely blessed during the Easter season by Bryan Chapell’s teaching on Christ-centered preaching. And it wasn’t just about preaching! It was a mini course in biblical hermeneutics and on grace-motivated Christian living. I taught a workshop on preaching Christ from the Old Testament prophets.

Would you join me in praying for two upcoming events? This weekend I’ll be in the Genoble area (France) with our first year students. Saturday night they will present the Gospel evangelistically through song and drama. Sunday morning I’ll be preaching at the church organizing the event (Eglise Protestante Evangélique de Seyssinet).

The following weekend (May 21-22) I’ll be speaking at a Christian men’s event at a beautiful retreat center (Champfleuri, not far from Grenoble). The other speakers and I will be addressing some of the challenges facing men today from a biblical standpoint. Pray that God would move us all toward increased grace-motivated obedience.

Knowing that friends are praying that God would move by his Spirit makes it a delight to preach at these various events. It’s exciting to depend on him and see him work, not least in my own heart.

Grace to you all,

Dominique
