One True God

We have been in River City two days now visiting our partners and their young son. It is an amazing place with lots of different people and many different forms of worship.

We have seen an endless variety of approaches to God. Worshiping of the sun, bathing to cleanse from sin, incense, body painting, chanting, bowing down to all forms of idols, statues, wood, rocks, and dolls, dancing, meditating, works of merit, naturalism, asceticism, and on and on and on and on. It illustrates how God has put the knowledge of Him inside of every human heart.

We have gotten into many spiritual conversations with people and there is a hunger to know God. Unfortunately, there is much confusion and pluralism that erodes the importance of the exclusivity of Christ. Our partners here are highly respected and they have found favor with many nationals. We are thankful for them, their testimony, their sacrifice, and for their work.

As a family they are doing well. Their little son, Abraham, is beautiful, cheerful, and trying to crawl his way around their apartment. It has been good to be with them and encourage them. They need much prayer in what is a spiritually dark place. We need to pray that they keep their eyes focused on Jesus Christ, His power and presence, and His promises of future grace for them.

Steve and I depart River City on Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. We arrive in our major port of departure at 5:50 p.m. and depart for the U.S. at 1:30 a.m. on Thursday and arrive in O'Hare at 6:00 a.m. Thursday morning after a 16 hour flight (go figure). We will see you all Sunday morning, by the grace of God. Please pray for our travels, our continued health, God's sustaining grace, and final words of gospel-centered and Spirit-empowered encouragement for our partners.

We love you all. Thank you for sending us and praying for us. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Love, David and Steve.
