Just as your Father is Compassionate

It has been a blessing to see the way God uses our gifts, talents, and even our professional skills for His glory. We've seen teaching, and design work, librarianing, and construction. But we've also been able to see a team of Robin, Renee, and Gayle use their medical background (and compassionate hearts) to come alongside the community here.

Last week, as others went out to teach pastors, these ladies worked along side a Kenyan nurse to lead a seminar on HIV/AIDS, nutrition, and hygiene. They put hours into developing these materials, and then even more time once we were on the ground here and they learned more about their audience and culture. Managing through translation issues, they have served God well through this ministry and their visits to "local" hospitals to observe and bring supplies. These visits included the Machakos hospital and Kijabe Hospital (and associated Nursing School...sister school to Scott).

The conditions in these hospitals were an emotional experience, but by God's provision these ladies were able to bring supplies, knowledge, and a wealth of online resources that will have a merciful and educational impact.

They also win the prize for worst traffic experience (or greatest flexibility and patience) of the team. On their way back from a long day visiting a hospital about 3 hours away, their return commute took 8 hours! They sat for over 4 hours of that only 45 minutes from Scott...
