Day 4 Philippines 2010

May 6, 2010

“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:1-11

In our morning group devotions, Pastor Dave reminded us of Paul’s exhortation to the Philippians toward unity, love for one another, and humility, as demonstrated to us by Jesus Christ. This has been lived out daily among all the workers at the PTC. What a joy and blessing it is to serve with everyone here!

The majority of the drywall on the third floor has been completed, electrical boxes were cut in, and a second coat of paint was applied on the second floor walls. Work on the flooring is expected to begin tomorrow. The children in the area are precious, and they spend most of their day watching and calling out to us. It was a joy to spend time with them outside, just laughing, talking, and being silly.

This evening, Proclaim Jesus Christ, an evangelistic outreach, took place at the end of the workday in a gathering area across from the Pastoral Training Center. Many residents of the area, including men, women, and children, heard Donnie Lehman preach about the saving love and faithfulness of Jesus Christ, his death on the cross, and His promise of salvation for those who put their trust in Him. Hearing God praised and worshiped in another tongue is amazing! Thank you Crossway for your desire to see God’s kingdom advanced and helping to make this trip possible. Praise God for the work that is being done, and the work that will continue to be done through His servants in the Philippines.

We ask that you would pray for those who heard the message of redemption at Proclaim Jesus Christ. Pray for more beautiful days like today. Pray that God would continue to keep us healthy, united, and strong, and that He would give grace and protection to our families while we are gone. Pray that, through the Pastoral Training Center and God’s church in the Philippines, the name of Jesus Christ would be proclaimed.

Blessings,
