Kenya Update - December 2009

We recently received this update from Paul and Rhoda Mbandi who serve at Scott Theological College in Kenya.

Dear Friends and Ministry partners,

We greet in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are fine as a family. It is a Christmas day and we are here at our home as a family, but tomorrow we are going to have company. Last weekend we visited my parents and mother in law.

We want to take this opportunity to wish you a blessed Christmas and a happy new year, 2010. In addition, we thank God for your encouragement and support during this year, 2009.

We lack good words for expressing our deep felt gratitude to you for our partnership in the ministry. This year was one of our toughest years in many ways. Economically, Kenya was seriously affected by the two years drought in addition to post election violence. This forced us to share what God provided to us with needy families, especially widows and old people. Scott Theological closed from 19th December until 11th January, 2010. However, our offices are going to be open beginning 28th December.

Thank God with us for the following things:

  1. For the good rain we received in most parts of Kenya which should result in a good harvest for most people.
  2. For our good health and God’s protection while driving on Kenyan roads.
  3. For the two new African lecturers we are going to have at Scott; this will make the work at Scott lighter.
  4. For the visit of Rev. Dr. Les Martin in October 2009, He was able to minister to Students and Scott Community for two days, We conducted a pastors' seminar for one Church District and ministered at two different Secondary Schools. But above all he was a source of encouragement to us as family.

Please pray for the following:

  1. For us to continue growing spiritually and especially our three boys.
  2. For my preaching at a district conference on 3rd January 2010.
  3. For quick repair of our car that was hit from behind by a speeding van, but we were not hurt.
  4. For many students who are not able to pay the College fees-pray that the Lord would provide scholarships for the very needy students.
  5. For the Rodah’s Glory women fellowship group. It was not able to do the December project due to the effect of drought.

We have many things that we can share with you. We have attached some pictures to remind you that we find ourselves involved in holistic or wholistic ministry. The Two Pictures were taken during food distributed at Masaw'a Africa Inland Church during the drought in August. The other picture is of our boys with their grandmother.

May God bless you for your encouragement and support.

Yours in the Ministry,

Paul and Rodah Mbandi
