Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?' And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.' -Matthew 25:37-40
Brazil 09 Team
CrossWay is sending a team of 16 to serve our brothers and sisters in Christ in Governador Valadares, Brazil from August 8-18. Part of what we will be doing is caring for the poor in the church. We thank God for all that CrossWay has donated in clothes, kitchen supplies, and house wares to provide for the poor in Brazil. Of course, we will not only be caring for their physical needs, but their spiritual needs as well.
Ministry in Brazil
We will also be hosting some outreach events, doing some street evangelism, repairing a run down church building, and training pastors. THIS SUNDAY MORNING, August 2nd, we will be taking a second special offering for the ministry costs we will incur while in Brazil. This collection will cover supplies for events, building materials, and transportation costs for locals. Any remaining money after we pay for our expenses will be left for the churches in Brazil. The Macedonians
Paul commended the saints in Macedonia for giving for the relief of the poor Christians in Jerusalem. He commended them for giving beyond their means, sacrificially, to take part in providing relief to the saints in Jerusalem.
We want you to know, brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own free will, begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints— and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us. -2 Corinthians 8:1-5CrossWay's Generous Giving
CrossWay reminds me of the Macedonians’ faithful, sacrificial, and joyful giving for the relief of their brothers and sisters in Christ. I know THIS SUNDAY your generosity will be an evidence of the grace of God at work in your life. So thank you CrossWay, in advance, for your support of this mission trip, for your generosity in supporting the team, providing clothes for the poor, and giving for our ministry costs on the ground. May God continue to provide for all of your needs.
